The house from Netflix

The House from Netflix looks promising

Sangita Ekka, December 21, 2021May 5, 2022

Update:

If you have already watched this movie, you may read – The House and analysis of modern terrors.

Dark comedy is an extremely under-explored genre of animated films and more so with stop motion animation which demands each and every frame to be built by hand, shooting them on camera, and then stitching them together to animate. The House from Netflix is all set to premiere in January 2022 with animated dark comedy as its theme and the trailer already looks extremely promising.

The little we could get a glimpse of The House is that it ties together a poor family, a developer, and a landlady to a mysterious house, all from different eras, probably. The trailer also features an open door stranded in the forest which reminded me of Vanishing Cabinets from Harry Potter, and also of doors from Locke and Key which opened to different locations.

AD

There are talking rodents, insects, and people, all fused in one confusing, creepy, and creative trailer. What unfolds with the story of The House remains to be seen. The last time I felt a chill watching a stop-motion animation was with Coraline. Something about the buttons for eyes irked me. While Coraline may not entirely be classified under the horror genre, it does carry a paranormal sub-plot.

The House from Netflix, its trailer feels creepy not only for the presence of loitering critters but also gives off a whiff of psychological horror. Curious how the whole thing will turn out, rest assured it has gathered a lot of interest within the animated-film afficianados.

The stop motion animation – The House releases worldwide on January 14, 2022. It is a work of Nexus Studio which has some interesting works in their portfolio like Emmy-nominated immersive film – Back to the Moon and short film – Robot and Scarecrow. My hopes and expectations from the House  movie are up, and I absolutely couldn’t resist making a fanart.

It is probably one of the few miniseries without a single black and white line between good and bad. The truth surpasses the fact that Theodore John Kaczynski, a mathematical prodigy with IQ 168 was a bomber. It sheds light on the dark history of Henry Murray, a Harvard psychologist involved in the ethically questionable activities within Harvard premises with Ted as one of his experiments.
