Making money from blogging is lucrative and often drives bloggers to put their content online. Many people start blogging with the sole purpose of earning money without having a single idea on what it takes to even be eligible for that.

Blogging is hard work. It demands you to be invested in a topic, which could be anything. You write because you want to, and the process ends up solving a problem, giving information or inspires.

Assuming your decision of starting a blog was well-thought-out, here’s how you can get Google AdSense approval in the first attempt:

Create your blog with a purpose

Reiterating because it’s necessary.

Create your blog with a purpose. Give yourself a reason to write before you expect people to read your content.

Your blog may be a journal or cater to a niche, the key here is to post enough and post consistently.

A blog with a clear purpose paves the road of posting on never exhausting topics.

6 months old website or blog

This is a requirement from Google.

Your recently published website or blog is not eligible for Google’s Ad network. It should be old enough to have seen enough content and decent traffic.

Google’s team checks each application before it enables features for the respective AdSense dashboard.

Additionally, assuming your website or blog has high chances of Adsense approval, you still need to be 18 years or older as AdSense will collect taxing data like PAN card if you are from India.

Write on a niche or multiple niches

It is easiest to write about things you care about. That becomes your niche. If there are multiple topics that inspire you, write about them too.

Pick a topic(s) about which you can write endlessly. Maybe you love to travel and document your journey. Maybe you experiment with cooking. Or maybe you do a lot of unrelated activities and want to document them all and share them.

Go for it. The only hurdle here is to manage your creative energy to write for all the topics you have picked.

Create easily accessible categories

Being organized has its own perks.

WordPress users can easily create categories and subcategories of their posts. Blogger users can do this with labeling.

For webpages, you have more control over categorizing your pages and content.

The whole point of doing this exercise is to avoid your readers getting lost in the pile of posts, particularly if you are aiming for a multi-niche blog. AdSense is useless without traffic and Google will ensure that your site or blog is capable of audience retention.

Number of posts and their length

With Adsense approval, you can choose from Display ads, In-feed ads, and In-article ads.

Display ads flash like a banner that may be enabled/disabled as per your liking. For blog content, in-feed ads and in-article ads take space between paragraphs.

As such a decently long article of 700 plus words gives enough opportunity to place ads. SEO rules often demand that a post should have at least 300 words.

Have at least 50-60 posts of good length which were posted in short regular intervals.

Drive initial traffic from social media

Put your social media accounts to good use. Make an FB page, invite people to follow your posts. Share page posts in groups that have the same interest in your niche.

Post in LinkedIn groups if your niche is appropriate for this platform. Explore Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, and even your Whatsapp contacts. Observe how people engage with your niche in different platforms.

This initial organic traffic is crucial as it is an indication of readership and its potential to grow. Adsense approval team will look for valid traffic to your site, and social media is a decent start for that.

Adsense approval time

All the steps mentioned above is exactly what I did before getting Adsense approval. It took 3-4 days for all the features to be enabled on my dashboard.

For some, it takes a couple of hours.

Google Adsense approval can happen in the first attempt, given you do it right.
